It is with great pleasure and pride that the festival presents Valentin Silvestrov as this year's festival composer. You can experience his beautiful music at many concerts throughout the festival week, and we look forward to presenting the entire festival programme on 13 June.

Welcome to the opening of the Trondheim chamber music festival and the performance Fargespill – a firework display of song, dance, music and circus! The city's main hall, Olavshallen, will bubble with enthusiasm and energy when children and young people from all over the world meet in the joy of music and interaction. Joining the stage is a handpicked band led by Christian Aftret Eriksen.

The program for the 27th Trondheim Chamber Music Festival is ready

For the 27th consecutive year we welcome you to the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, to be held from the 18th to the 25th of September 2022. This year´s Festival Composer will be none other than Olga Neuwirth. Two renowned string quartets are coming - the Tetzlaff Quartet and the Quatuor Confluence. We will be featuring double basses, music of Schubert, the Norwegian Soloist Choir and «Hyfer» the Norwegian University of Technology´s (NTNU) new festival of Arts and Science. Not to mention the exciting At-home-with concert series, as well as a great performance by Kaleidoscope Trondheim, young immigrants sharing their culture, with the Royal Norwegian Air Force Band. The opening concert promises to be something quite out of the ordinary - a wandering concert through the art gallery K-U-K.

The Trondheim Chamber Music Festival proudly presents Caroline Shaw as Festival Composer 2021. She joins the list of festival composers at a high international level, such as Steve Reich, Sofia Gubaidulina and Mark Simpson, and fits well into the Kamfest profile; young, innovative and cross-genre.

The Trondheim Chamber Music Festival proudly presents Mark Simpson as Festival Composer 2020. The young Brit emerged as a prodigious musical talent when he became the first ever winner of both the BBC Young Musician of the Year and BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composer of the Year competitions in 2006, 18 years old.
The Andsnes concert will be moved to June

Leif Ove Andsnes was supposed to have played on the new Steinway grand piano in the Free Mason Hall on 28 January. Now the concert is moved to June 17.

Mithras trio wins 10th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition
27.09.2019
The final rounds of the 10th TICC competition was held friday 27th of spetember in the Freemasons Hall. The Moldovian/British Mithras trio won the competition with festival engagements and 15 000 €.
Trio Hèlios came second and won the Knut Lund prize of 10 000€, and Trio Opal came third and won the Kaare Opdal prize of 5 000€. Part of the prize is also a print byNorwegian artist Håkon Bleken.
The audience prize was won by Trio Opal, and they are invited back to next year’s festival as festival artists.
Jury chairman Lambert Orkis was impressed by all nine trios level of playing.

Maxwell Quartet winner of 9th Trondheim Competition

The Final rounds of the 9th TICC competition was held Saturday 30 September in the Freemasons Hall in Trondheim, Norway. The Scottish Maxwell Quartet won the competiton with festival engagements and 15 000 €. As well as convincing the jury, the quartet also won the audience prize, and are invited back to next year’s festival as festival artists.

With a night time concert in Nidaros Cathedral and Tyrolean music at the new Heidi’s Bier Bar at the Solsiden concert venue, a breadth of musical experiences is assured at this year’s Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, running from 26 September to 1 October. Folk music is also at centre-stage in the festival programme, inspired by the British festival composer Sally Beamish.

The first concert of the festival was a great success. Dokkhuset, one of the most prestigious concert halls of the city, celebrated its 10 years anniversary with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Trondheim Voices and the Trondheim Soloists on the same stage.
Don't try to understand - just listen

Festival composer Bent Sørensens best advice for the audience is not to try and understand the music, just listen. During the opening concert in the Nidaros Cathedral, the audience got a close-up of the danish composer's music, and it was love at first sight.
