Fiddler Sturla Eide has for many years been among the foremost performers in Norwegian folk music, with striking musicality and fiddle skills. He has been an important driving force in the renewal of Norwegian folk music through collaborations with Andreas Aase among others, and not least across genres with musicians like Mattis Kleppen and the Trondheim Soloists. Eide has a distict ability to talk to the audience through the music. As a musician, he takes conventions and phrases necessary for the folk music to be recognized as such, and moves them beyond the role of clichés.
